Research at EIC Laboratories has produced two commercial corporations addressing very different market sectors. Bascom-Turner Instruments, incorporated in 1982, is a leading manufacturer of hand-held gas detectors for utility companies. Customers include major natural gas companies as well as fire departments across the nation. InPhotonics is the latest commercial venture, incorporated in 1998. Specializing in Raman fiber optic probes and portable Raman spectrometers, InPhotonics' customers include research institutions and major chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturers worldwide. InPhotonics also sells its fiber optic probes to OEM clients in the field of Raman spectroscopy. Both of these businesses are operated as separate entities within the EIC family of companies.
